The region has two large railway hubs in Yelets and Gryazi. The total length of operating railways in the Lipetsk Region is 751.1 km, including 363 km of electrified tracks. Over 8,600 million tons of cargo is transported by rail every year.

The Lipetsk Region is located at the intersection of the country’s major transport routes, 450 km to the south of Moscow. The region borders on the Voronezh, Kursk, Tula, Ryazan, and Tambov Regions. The region’s area is 24,000 sq km, with its border length reaching 900 km. The distance to the Black Sea and St. Petersburg sea ports and to the border with the European Union is around 1,000 km. An indisputable advantage is that it takes about 5 hours to get to Moscow by car from any place in the Lipetsk Region.
